Sound Chair- Mathew Plammer- Fernandez

I was having a flick through the Data Flow book today in Hotspur that Helen brought in and came across this artist. He is dealing with what Music feels like as an object/ three-dimensional sound, according to frequency, volume and timing. In this piece he is accurately representing the recording of one song in a three-dimensional way, which ended up creating the shape of a chair… ‘Sound Chair’.

I really like the oddness of it in comparison to where it is being exhibited and the accuracy of it. I am thinking about perhaps deconstructing one of my sound wave samples and taking my multiples of object out into the streets, to do some quick short sound wave drawings in response to live sound… all this talk of flicking between possible exhibition space’s is creating some uncertainty as to how I will actually be displaying my pieces so I feel that some responses to space around me may help me get my feet back on the ground.
