Laura Buckley

This piece by Laura Buckley is called ‘The Mean Reds’ the name is a phrase used by Holly Golightly in the film ‘Breakfast at Tiffany’s it is used for nameless anxiety. The Mean Reds’ is an installation made up of overlapping video, surfaces, bulk, overlapping sound and objects to portray a complex anxiety.

I was looking at Laura Buckley’s work for some inspiration for my piece in our final exhibition, as she combines more than one visual element in her work. Although I am still undecided as to weather to incorporate sound as well as visuals I want to explore artists that use both in strange ways to keep my options open.

I like how her work has so much going on but she has used such a clean and clinical exhibition space to display her work, it is useful to see this as we could be displaying our work in a very clean exhibition space.  So I need to start thinking about where my pieces, videos and possibly sound could be placed.
