So I felt the meeting today was a great experience and we
have all learnt a lot from it. Firstly it was a great experience to show our
work off to people other than our tutors or each other, it definitely gave me a
lot more confidence to do something like that again, and secondly I think we
all learnt a lot about how to actually go about organising an event like this.
The one problem we
came across was money issues, this afternoon I spoke to Chris in Hotspur who
seems really interested to get involved and try to help us. He mentioned that
photography students don’t have a place to exhibit there work at the moment and
that if we collaborated with them we may be able to get the space with funding
from the university, he then contacted Jane McFadyen and she seemed keen to
think about funding. Today I have emailed her myself so she knows who to
contact about Blank Media and the possibilities there.
I think that now it’s a case of waiting and speaking to Kate
a bit more about collaborating with other courses and seeing what happens.
After talking to Chris in Hotspur today I realised that even if we do end up
exhibiting in Hotspur House for our Exhibition and we don’t go with the blank
media idea, its ok because we are exploring our options and not just stopping
when someone says its not possible, we are trying to find out ways that we can
achieve what we want for the exhibition but coming across obstacles along the
way, its an exciting learning curve but wont be such a shock if we want to do
this kind of thing when we leave University!
I totally agree,it would be a great opportunity. And what chris said sounded quite promising. Have you heard anymore from Jane or Kate?
